Sebana Cove Marina
After we left Senibong Cove Marina, we continued to Sebana Cove Marina for a few days. Sebana Cove was in the middle of nowhere, but it was a nice break just lazing around the pool. We walked through an oil palm plantation and watched the monkeys, and I got to see my first ever hornbill in the wild!
Once we left Sebana Cove, we headed to Admiral Marina near Port Dickson. We sailed throughout the day, weaving our way through a maze of huge ships – you haven’t seen huge until you’ve seen a supertanker!!
Kuala Lumpur
We anchored another three nights before we reached the marina. We planned to stay in the marina for a couple of nights to catch up with a friend in Kuala Lumpur. We ended up being there for a week before moving on. Ilija picked us up from the marina and took us to his place to meet his wife Anka and their two boys, Nikola and Luka. Beautiful, hospitable people insisted we stay for three nights, looking after us as though we were royalty. We had a great time.
Dwayne went to watch Luka play rugby with Anka. At the same time, I stayed at the house to catch up on my blogging and watch Ilija make his famous goulash – I even found out his secret ingredient!
When Dwayne, Anka and Luka arrived back from the rugby, the goulash was ready, and we all sat down to a delicious meal served with pasta, hot rolls and red wine. After this long-awaited lunch (Ilija had promised us goulash when we met him in Bali earlier in the year), it was time for a swim in the pool.
The next day we had some shopping to do, so, along with Ilija and Anka, we wandered the Pavilion Mall and KLCC before having lunch on Jalan Alor.
Malacca
When it was time to head back to Thorfinn, Ilija took us to Malacca before dropping us back on the boat. We ended up staying in Malacca for the night. Malacca is a great little place and very interesting, with many souvenir shops and art galleries.
A walk around the waterfront was enjoyable, with the remains of old forts and cannons, a giant water wheel and a dutch windmill! We even got to see birds catching their dinner. Once we had a good look around we had a drink at a tiny bar where we played pool/8 Ball. Malacca looks fabulous at night as it lights with hundreds of lights. There are many restaurants and bars along the river. We had dinner at the Dutch Harbour Cafe on the river, but unfortunately, it wasn’t very good. However, the satays were good.
Once back on Thorfinn, we spent a couple of days preparing to leave, i.e. a bit of shopping. We also had to see the harbourmaster and customs officials. We had arrived on a long weekend, so we had as yet been able to check in with the harbour master. So we headed into Port Dickson and checked in and out on the same day, and we were once again on the water and on our way the next day as the sun came up. We continue sailing Malaysia and stop at Penang and Langkawi.

The Boathouse Tavern Restaurant meals were good. Lots of cheap choices of local dishes. The nasi lemak with rendang curry was delicious. Marina itself needs some maintenance. But the resort pool etc., is lovely.
