Immigration process at Blue Tree
When you arrive, you need to complete the application form. Forms are available at the office; you can find them in a box outside the office or download one here. You also need a passport photo, photocopies of your passport, and an arrival stamp. You can get photos and photocopying done at the Retail Leasing Office to the right of the Immigration office (see photo below).
Once you have filled in the application form and have your photocopies and photo ready, enter the queue at the right of the office building (see photo below).
You will need to give them a phone number and pay the ฿1900. The officer will then take a photo of you holding a number and tell you to return after 45 minutes. After 45 minutes (ours was ready when we returned after 35 minutes), enter the office and collect your passport. Check your passport for a visa stamp and (just good practice) *check the date is correct.
*A few years ago, a crew member flew into Kota Kinabalu in Borneo to join the boat. He arrived late at night and didn’t check his entry stamp. While shopping for a new phone, he had to show his passport and discovered the wrong date. Luckily, he could sort it out before we had to clear immigration and sail from Borneo. Since then, we have always checked our visas or entry stamps.
